Every journey counts

You are doing the environment a favour every time you choose public transport over cars or planes. Last year, Vy passengers helped save emissions equivalent to 400 000 passenger cars. That is why we say that every journey counts.

A father and son’s train journey.

All journeys matter

  • The railway accounts for 0.1 per cent of Norway’s total annual CO₂ emissions, while road traffic accounts for 8,7 per cent.
  • 48 per cent of Vy’s buses run on non-fossil fuels.
  • 1 200 articulated lorries are replaced by CargoNet freight trains every day.
  • On average, a full train replaces 600 cars during peak hours.
  • A train emits 10 grams of CO₂e per passenger kilometre, compared to 25 grams for an electric SUV and 133 grams for an aeroplane.

All our employees play an important role:

Every day, conductor Sveinung Groven (45) looks forward to creating a good atmosphere on his train. He believes it doesn’t actually take a lot to make the passengers’ day a little better.
