Rail replacement buses
If there are planned engineering works or unplanned disruptions that lead to the trains not being able to run, Vy arranges alternative transport using rail replacement buses.

Sometimes events occur that require us to replace buses with trains. This can be planned engineering work where we can prepare a good alternative, or there may be unforeseen situations such as power failures or issues with the rails.
In these cases, we need to organise buses and drivers to pick up passengers. Naturally, this can take some time, but we always strive to assist you in reaching your destination and provide information as best we can on the trains and at the stations.

Frequently asked questions about the rail replacement service
When a rail replacement bus service is in operation, your train ticket is valid on the bus replacing the train for your journey. If we do not offer bus, your train ticket will be valid on Ruter's means of transport on the same route.
In the event of planned deviations where a bus replaces parts of a train route, the bus always has an earlier departure time than the train normally has to ensure that the bus arrives well in advance of the train departure at the transfer station.
If the bus is delayed, you can take the next train. If the last train of the day has left or it is more than one hour until the next departure, we offer alternative transport. In that case, you will receive help from a customer service representative at the station or information from the bus driver.

Children and accessibility on rail replacement buses
All rail replacement buses must have at least one wheelchair space, so this means that you are guaranteed space if you are the first passenger travelling in a wheelchair. In some rare cases, there is no wheelchair lift. If so, the wheelchair must be placed in the coach luggage hold.
If the wheelchair space is already in use by someone else, your wheelchair must be folded and placed in the coach luggage hold. We will book a maxi taxi with a wheelchair ramp if you cannot get out or be lifted out of the wheelchair.
The buses can only transport wheelchairs that are within the dimensions 70 x 120 cm.
For travel with for example Ruter og Skyss, it is their conditions of carriage that apply.
If the stroller does not fit inside the bus, you can fold it and place it in the coach luggage hold.
In the event of disruptions, we also cooperate with other public transport companies, and refer to their ordinary offers on certain train routes. Then the rules for this company apply.
