New monthly pass for children and young people offers unlimited train travel in Oslo and Akershus

From 1 August 2026, travelling by public transport across Ruter’s zones in Oslo and Akershus will become easier.

A new monthly pass (30-day ticket) from Ruter gives children and young people unlimited travel on Vy trains and other public transport services throughout Oslo and Akershus with one single monthly pass.
At the same time, the rules for school transport for upper secondary school students are changing.
The monthly pass can be used at any time of day, every day of the week, including weekends and school holidays, and can be purchased by:
- Children (aged 6 to 17)
- Young people (aged 18 to 19)
- Adult education students (aged 20 to 25)
