Advice for passengers travelling in Oslo and to Oslo Airport on Wednesday 9 September

  • Allow plenty of time if you are travelling to or from central Oslo and Oslo Airport. We recommend checking the journey planner in the Vy app or at vy.no before you travel.
  • Use Oslo Central Station (Oslo S) instead of Nationaltheatret Station if possible. Access will be limited due to strict security measures around Nationaltheatret and central Oslo. If you need to use Nationaltheatret Station, we recommend using the western entrance/exit of the station, near Henrik Ibsen's Gate/Solli plass.
  • See information from the Police and the City of Oslo regarding access in central Oslo, as well as information from Ruter about tram, bus and metro services.

How train services will be affected

We will operate all available trains as normal throughout the day, but we expect high passenger numbers and crowding, particularly in the afternoon when many people will also be travelling home from work.

Additional customer service staff will be available at selected stations to help you reach your destination.

The Police have announced that there will be traffic restrictions on the roads between Oslo Airport and central Oslo from 8 to 10 September, and heavier traffic and longer queues than normal are expected. Vy and Flytoget therefore expect high passenger volumes between Oslo Central Station and Oslo Airport.

On the day of the funeral, there will be a nationwide one-minute silence from 13:00 to 13:01. The one-minute silence will be observed on board trains at 13:00 while trains remain in service.

How central Oslo will be affected

Central Oslo will be closed to traffic from Wednesday morning until Wednesday evening. Extensive security measures will also be in place. Several tram and bus routes in the city centre will be diverted, and a number of stops will not be served.
