Privacy policy for the Vy-app
Here you will find information about what personal data is processed and how it is processed when you use the Vy app.
The travel search in the Vy app can be used anonymously, but you will need a profile to make a purchase. See the Vy profile privacy policy.
Purpose of processing
In order to respond to any requests you make via the app in connection with travel searches and purchases, Vy will require your IP address and GPS location, etc.
The personal data we process in the app
- We process your personal data such as your IP address and GPS location when you use our services, including anonymously.
- We store IP addresses for up to a week in our cloud solution in order to detect issues with or misuse of our services.
- If GPS is enabled, your GPS location will be used in location searches and will be logged to allow for troubleshooting. The location will only be stored if the location search fails and the data is necessary in order to fix the fault.
- Operating system information (Android, iOS) and version (e.g. iOS 15.0) and the app version (e.g. 669) will be used for troubleshooting.
- To optimis troubleshooting, we stor a timestamp of when the app is opened.
- We store a push notification key to send you notifications.
Legal basis for processing
We have a legitimate interest in processing this data in order to troubleshoot and maintain the services offered via the Vy app.
Cloud solution
We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a cloud solution and this is where the aforementioned personal data is stored. Communication between the Vy app and the cloud solution takes place over a secure connection (HTTPS) and access to the data in the cloud solution is restricted.
Mobile phone access
The Vy app requires some access in order to provide the best possible user experience. Such access is optional and can be turned off in the device settings, but this could result in some features not being available.
Location services
In order to be able to show you the nearest station, stop or recommended route from where you are, and send you location-specific notifications, the Vy app must have access to location data from the mobile.
Notifications
We use push notifications to send you real-time information about deviations that may affect your journey. We also send notification of e.g. major planned works and a reminder that your period ticket will soon immediately.
Background updates
Used to update the content of the app in the background so that the content is up-to-date when you relaunch the app.
Mobile data
The Vy app relies on mobile data or wireless network to be able to display travel suggestions and prices, retrieve real-time information, carry out ticket sales, etc.
Calendar
The Vy app will request access to add journeys to your calendar. The app will request limited access and cannot read from your calendar.
Images
It may be necessary to add images when completing forms. In these cases, the Vy app will request private access to your photos and will have access only to any photos you allow.
Legal basis for access
Processing this data is necessary in order to fulfil an agreement or to perform actions at the request of the individual involved prior to entering into an agreement.
Statistics and diagnostics
In order to improve the user experience in the app, some of the app activities will be logged to Datadog. Datadog is used to monitor our channels for errors and to troubleshoot any issues in our services. The data stored in Datadog will be deleted after three months.
This data is also stored in Databricks, where it is used to generate statistics which can help us improve our services.
We have a legitimate interest in processing such data in order to improve our services.
