Geilo – A versatile skiing adventure for everyone

Explore Geilo, a skiing paradise that has attracted skiers since 1909. Enormous ski resort with free ski bus

The popular alpine village of Geilo had its first ski lift in 1954, and since then Geilo has been regarded as an international ski destination. SkiGeilo offering a range of slopes and facilities: Over 40 descents with varying difficulty levels and 20 lifts for efficient transport on the slopes. There are runs for beginners, intermediates, and experienced skiers.

How to get to Geilo by train and bus

Geilo is easily accessible by public transportation. The Bergen Railway stops at Geilo station, with departures from both Oslo and Bergen. From the station, it's only an eleven-minute walk to Slaata Ski Center. The train journey takes approximately 3.5 hours from Oslo and 3 hours from Bergen. On the train, there's plenty of space for ski equipment in carriage number five.

With Vy bus, the Vy express goes to Geilo, which can be a good alternative, especially if you're traveling from places with out direct train connections. The bus has plenty of luggage space and high-comfort seats that make the bus journey a good travel experience. The express bus also stops at Geilo station.

By choosing public transportation to Geilo, you not only contribute to a more environmentally friendly journey, but you can also enjoy the beautiful view salong the way without worrying about driving and parking.

Slopes, parks, ski school, and cross-country skiing

In Geilo, you'll find slopes that are adapted to all levels and ages. Here you'll find an overview of the various offerings and slopes in Geilo.

Color Codes for the Slopes

Terrain Parks: Geiloparken and Slaataparken

In both ski areas, you'll find good park offerings for those who want an extra adrenaline kick. Former X-games winner Andreas Håtveit helps set up the parks to provide an awesome experience for both beginners and professionals.

In Geiloparken, there are two areas for different levels and challenges, Kikut and Vestlia. Kikut has trails for green, blue, and red levels. There are small jumps, fun boxes and bumps, as well as larger rails and jumps. Vestlia is closest to the café and restaurant, and here you'll find the biggest jumps. The levels are red and black, so here you can really practice if you're experienced. There's evening skiing with good lighting in this slope.

Slaatparken has levels adapted to green and blue difficulty grades. The park has a good selection of jumps and rails of varying difficulty, which is fun for both young and old. There's also a children's area with smaller jumps and terrain waves for the little ones. The park is open for evening skiing.
