How to get to Gudvangen village

Once you arrive in Norway (Oslo), the journey to Gudvangen is 240km and can be travelled via bus or train.

You can take a Vy train from Oslo Central Train Station to Gudvangen Village. On average, the journey takes about 9 hours – but it can also take much longer depending on waiting times between transfers. The first part of the journey is by train, then you change to a bus. Hop on the F4 line to Bergen and get off at Voss Train Station. This part of the journey takes roughly six hours. At Voss Station get the VY450 Sogndal bus and get off at Gudvangen E16. The bus journey to Gudvangen is 55 stops and takes around 50 minutes.

Kayaking in Gudvangen⁠External link

Put paddle to water with a kayaking tour on the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord and absorb the stunning views of the high mountains and plunging waterfalls. Create lasting memories as you sail along one of Norway's most beautiful fjord regions.

Set out on the water during early to mid-spring, you might even spot snow avalanches coming down the steep mountains. Kayaking in Gudvangen is ideal for families or groups, and you can choose between half-day tours or full-day tours.

Biking in Gudvangen

Get your heart rate pumping with a thrilling bike ride in Gudvangen Village. During this escapade, you’ll pass through the Nærøyfjord, as well as famous landmarks like the awe-inspiring Tvinde waterfall, Nærøy valley, and the Flåm Railway. Other popular routes include the area’s longest and most popular mountain biking trail, the Gudvangen Loop Hike – estimated to be 10.8 km in length.

Head to Fjord Safari for a day of true Norwegian fun. The trip from Gudvangen to Flåm will take you through the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjord, with a stop in Undredal to taste award-winning goat cheese.
