Take the train to Voss
What do you think of when you hear ‘Voss’? Chances are that adrenaline, speed, and extreme experiences come to mind. That’s not strange because few places have such a variety of things to do on offer as Voss. The train stops at Voss station in the very centre of town allowing for easy access for extreme sports and outdoors experiences.
A number of hotels are just a stone’s throw away from Voss station, while the same is also true for the many restaurants and bars in the town. You will also find the bus station within walking distance of the railway station – it offers a great, budget-friendly way to reach many of the local attractions.
Things to do in Voss
Voss offers a long list of activities. How about downhill skiing, white water rafting, mountain biking, skydiving or waterfall rappelling? Voss is also home to Norway’s only vertical recirculating wind tunnel, Voss Vind, where you can enjoy the sensation of skydiving – without the parachute. In other words, if you like excitement then you should be on one of our trains to Voss.
Extreme experiences may await you in Voss, but it is also the perfect destination for families. Many of the activities have been adapted for children, and the vast majority of visitors will find something that suits them. Travelling by train to Voss is a practical and pleasant way to travel with your family. However, if you are not tempted by the adrenaline rush on offer in the town then you can also enjoy everything from the Vossabadet Indoor Swimming Centre and guided walks to stargazing and knitting courses.

Extreme experiences just a train journey away
Each summer sees the arrival of Ekstremsportveko, the largest extreme sport festival in the world, and the latest feature as of this year is a cable car to take you straight into the mountains where there are stunning views of the beautiful village from the top. The cable car’s summit station lies at 820 metres above sea level and the trip up takes barely 7 minutes.
Culinary Voss
Voss is known for its good food and drink, and the town has had a strong beer brewing tradition since Viking times. How about a beer tasting flight in one of the locals bars, or perhaps you dare to try the much discussed national dish ‘smalahove’?
