Groups of friends, students, families or colleagues on business trips. Our new Compartment ticket makes it easier for everyone who wants to travel as a small group in slightly more private surroundings.
In practice, travelling is just getting from one point to another. However, everything that happens in between is also part of the journey. And Compartment makes it even easier to share your journey with others. So, while we make sure the train keeps rolling along between the fjords and mountains, you can make time fly with good conversation in good company, a game of cards around the table or in deep concentration in a creative workshop. It is your compartment.
Free cancellation with Compartment Refundable tickets
If you purchase a Compartment Refundable ticket you can cancel your journey free of charge for any reason up to the scheduled time of departure. You need to register how many will be travelling in the compartment when you book. If you want to add or remove passengers from the compartment later, you must contact Customer Service.
Some practical information about the compartments
- You have to book the entire compartment. You can travel with up to five others, or you can book the entire compartment for yourself.
- Please remember that you need to register everyone in your party when you book.
- If you are travelling with a dog taller than 40 cm, the dog will count as one passenger even though it will be on the floor.
- There are 2 power sockets as well as multiple USB ports.
- The compartments are 190 x 190 cm (3.6 m2).
Are you bringing a bicycle?
The Bergen Line has space for more bikes. You will find the bike spaces at the entrance to the carriage and we recommend that you lock up all equipment with your own lock before finding your place.
Please remember to reserve a space for your bike prior to departure.

- Hungry? Come along to our café on board and let us tempt you with the varied range on offer.
- Remember to bring playing cards or a game for everyone to play.
- Travelling with children? Bring crayons, paper, puzzle booklets and books.
- We recommend that you download films, series and music before starting your journey. The internet connection on board is not optimal on this line.
Questions and answers about Compartment
Yes, each compartment has its own door and can be closed. The door cannot be locked though so make sure you do not leave valuables unattended in the compartment while moving about the train during your journey.
Some luggage storage space is available on the floor below the two sofas and on the overhead rack. Luggage can also be stored at your own risk in the adjoining shared luggage compartment.
We sell entire compartments as a service intended for smaller groups who want to travel together. We have several other offers available for passengers travelling alone, with good opportunities to find suitable tickets elsewhere on the train.
When you purchase a Compartment ticket you automatically book the entire compartment and all six places. You are free to choose whether you want to travel with others and you can be joined by up to five other passengers in the same compartment. Please remember that you need to register everyone in your party when you book.
Yes, dogs are allowed in the compartment. Any dog taller than 40 cm counts as a passenger in the compartment and you can have up to three dogs with you per compartment. Please remember that dogs must remain on the floor and that limited floor space is available as the compartments are small (3.6 m2). Compartments do not have space for dog crates.
Terms and conditions
- You book your own compartment. You must register everyone in your party when you book. The price is the same regardless of the number of people travelling together (maximum of six people).
- Compartment tickets cannot be changed or upgraded. You can add to or reduce the number of passengers in your compartment as long as there is space available.
- Compartment tickets cannot be combined with any other discounts such as student, senior citizen or child discounts.
- An infant is registered as one passenger in the compartment.
- Dogs can travel free of charge. Dogs shorter than 40 cm are not included in the passenger count, although a dog taller than 40 cm is counted as one passenger in the compartment. Maximum of three dogs.
- You may bring up to 30 kg of luggage comprising a maximum of three items per person. Some luggage storage space is available underneath the seats and on the overhead rack. Luggage can also be stored in the adjoining shared luggage compartment.
- Folding pushchairs are carried for free and can be stored in the adjoining shared luggage compartment. Compartments do not have space for pushchairs.
- Bike spaces can be reserved for an additional charge. Bikes must be locked at your own risk and you must bring your own lock. Read more about the terms and conditions for bikes on the Bergen Line.
- A four-hour cancellation period applies to ticket purchases, as long as you cancel before the train’s scheduled departure time.
- This ticket is refundable. This means that the price of your ticket will be refunded if you cancel your journey for any reason prior to departure.
- The ticket cannot be changed or upgraded. This means that you must cancel the ticket and get a refund, and then book a new ticket if you require one.
- You can add to or reduce the number of passengers after booking by contacting Customer Service. Maximum of six people.
