Cross-border journeys – Agreement on Journey Continuation (AJC)
What to do if you miss a cross-border connection.
From 1 August 2026, Vy is part of the international ‘Agreement on Journey Continuation’ (AJC). This means that if you are on a cross-border journey and miss a connecting train due to a cancellation or delay of at least 10 minutes, you will still be able to reach your destination at no extra cost.
This applies regardless of ticket type as long as you are continuing your journey with Snälltåget, or with SJ to, from or in Sweden. The total journey must consist of separate single tickets.
Please note: SJ’s line between Oslo and Stockholm is not currently part of this collaboration.
What you need to do
You can take the next train
If you have planned your onward journey with enough transfer time between connections, you will usually be able to continue your journey with the same train company if you miss your connection.
In order for this to be the case,
- the transfer time between trains must be at least 15 minutes.
- the transfer time must also take into account any other needs (for example limited mobility).
Remember to get confirmation
When you board the next train, you need to show the confirmation to the staff together with your original ticket.
Please note
- The agreement does not apply to local trains in Norway.
- Some trains may be fully booked and have no available seats.
- Please contact the conductor on the next train before embarking to check that there is space.
