More information about fines

Valid ticket

  • You must have a valid and activated ticket at the time of inspection. Mobile tickets and electronic tickets (travel cards) must be purchased and activated before boarding.
  • If you do not have a valid ticket at the time of inspection, you may be given a fine. To avoid additional costs and unpleasant surprises, do a quick check before boarding.

How much is the fine?

  • The fine set by the Ministry of Transport and Communications is NOK 1.470, or NOK 1.200 for passengers under 18 years of age.

About electronic tickets

  • When using a mobile ticket or electronic travel card, it is your responsibility to check that it is valid before boarding the train.
  • If you have purchased a mobile ticket for a specific departure, that is the departure you must travel on – the ticket is not valid on other trains.
  • Remember that the screen must be legible, and that you have enough battery on your phone or tablet for the entire journey. It is annoying to be left without a ticket because your phone has turned off!
  • If you have purchased tickets for several people with your phone, you are the one who has the tickets. Therefore, your phone must be available to the entire travelling party at ticket control.
