A difficult start for train commuters

Published 21 August 2026 at 14:42

The past few weeks have been difficult for train commuters in Eastern Norway. Numerous faults affecting the tracks, power supply and signalling systems have led to cancellations and delays, causing a great deal of frustration. We completely understand that.

This situation is unacceptable for both our passengers and Vy employees. After weeks of railway lines being closed due to necessary renewal work, we had been looking forward to running our train services again.

We now hope that this period of frequent faults is behind us. Bane NOR is working hard to fix the faults and explain what has happened, and maintains that the renewal work will deliver results in the long term.

Get the latest travel information in the Vy app

When unexpected disruptions affect train services, we recommend checking the Vy app, following the information on station screens and listening to announcements at the station.

When train traffic is disrupted, many things need to be clarified at the same time. Information is updated step by step as the situation develops. We understand that it can be frustrating when information does not answer all your questions straight away, or when different channels show different information for a period of time.

We update our information channels as quickly as possible and recommend that you:

  • Check the journey planner in the Vy app or on vy.no before you travel. This will help you stay up to date with any changes or delays affecting your departure.
  • Enable push notifications for your route in the Vy app. This allows us to inform you immediately if anything changes.
