About the journey from Bergen to Flåm
Bergen to Flåm is a two-part journey taking you from the historic ‘capital of Fjord Norway’, Bergen, to the quaint fishing village of Flåm, where cycling, sailing and the great outdoors await. En route, you’ll look out on a rotating cast of hills, rivers, mountains and fjords as you wind your way through the countryside. Here’s how to do it.
Departing from Bergen central station
Bergen Central Station (Bergen 5015) is in the city centre, next to the bus station (busstasjon) and Nonnester Bergen light rail (Bybanen) stop.
Most trains arrive on the Voss and Oslo lines. From the airport you can get to the station easily on the airport shuttle bus.
Once you arrive, you’ll find a modern, spacious station with plenty of cafes, kiosks and other amenities. It’s just a 10 minutes’ walk away from tourist hotspots like the fish market and Bryggen harbourside.
If you need to store luggage or skis, there are storage lockers at the station. The lockers vary in size and the price depends on the size you choose. Your luggage can stay in the locker for up to seven days. After that, it will be placed in a luggage room for collection later.

Arriving at Flåm train station
Flåm station (5743 Flåm) is the final stop of the Flåm Railway – but your journey doesn’t have to stop there.
When you get off your train, find yourself overlooking the UNESCO Heritage-listed Nærøyfjorden. From there, it’s a short walk to explore the fjord by ferry or kayak. Or head to the hills to climb, cycle and hike.
