Online ticket prices can vary from day to day. Prices depend on how many available seats remain, how far in advance you book your journey and the popularity of the departure. To get the cheapest tickets, book early and buy on vy.no or in the Vy app.
Yes, if you pre-purchase a ticket we guarantee you a seat.
There may be a number of reasons for this:
- You were not logged in during the purchase and entered the wrong email address. In these circumstances, contact customer service so they can send you a receipt.
- If you were logged in, check the email address linked to your Vy profile – perhaps it is different to the one you usually use?
- Check if the email was treated as spam, or search for “Vy” in the subject field in your inbox.
Our backroom systems sometimes experience faults which prevent emails being sent. The email will be sent as soon as the fault has been fixed.
If you used Vipps as your payment method and did not receive a confirmation with a ticket number on the screen, the transaction did not go through. Thus, the amount is only reserved and will be released back to you. A Vipps receipt is not a valid ticket.
No, unfortunately this is not possible when you buy your ticket on vy.no or in the Vy app at the moment.
Our bus tickets cannot be used on our trains. This is because there is currently no cooperation on tickets between trains and buses in Vy.

NB: When a rail replacement bus service is in operation, your train ticket is valid on the bus replacing the train for your journey.
No, there is currently no cooperation on tickets between trains and buses in Vy. You can check whether you can cancel your ticket and buy a ticket for the other means of transport. Different refund conditions apply to the different types of train ticket. You can only cancel bus tickets if you have a refundable ticket, and you must cancel the ticket at least 2 hours prior to departure.
Remember to buy a new ticket before you cancel so you are guaranteed a place.
Yes. As long as it is the right type of ticket (adult, child, senior, etc.) someone else can travel on your ticket and vice versa.
Be prepared to show proof of identity in case any doubts should arise about it being the right type of ticket.
No, secondary school pupils don’t get a student discount on the bus, can you purchase a child’s ticket (6-17) or a young person’s ticket (18-25).
You can buy ticket on vy.no, in the Vy app, on board the bus, in hotel reception, or at the ticket vending machines at the hotel stops. You can also buy tickets at the Oslo Airport stop, on the lower level.
A single adult ticket costs NOK 80. Up to 4 children under 16 can travel for free with an adult.
If you have purchased a ticket in the Vy app, you can email the receipt to yourself. Go to Profile > Purchase history, select the journey in question, and tap More. Then select Send receipt, enter your email address, and the receipt will be sent to you.
