About the journey to Oslo
The journey from Flåm to Oslo by train is one of the most beautiful in Europe. The village of Flåm is known for being a prime spot to explore the fjords, so it’s no surprise travelling to and from there on the Flåm Railway is just as breathtaking! Plus, the capital of Norway, Oslo, has plenty to offer for culture-seekers and outdoor explorers alike.
The journey takes between six and 11 hours, depending on the route you choose. All trains pass through Myrdal train station – where you’ll need to change to get to Oslo.
Departing from Flåm station
Flåm Station is situated in the heart of the village, on A-Feltvegen at 5743, Flåm. The Flåmselvi river provides a beautiful backdrop to the north, along with the Aurlandsfjord sitting on the horizon.
You can reach Flåm station by train, or from nearby Sogndal Airport. This is around a one and a half hour drive from the station itself, so you’ll need to drive – or catch a bus or taxi.
The station also offers 24/7 luggage storage boxes, so you can explore without carrying your belongings. Prices vary depending on the size of your chosen storage box.

Arriving at Oslo Central station
Oslo Central station is in a great location in the middle of the city. You can find it at Jernbanetorget 1, 0154 Oslo, Norway – just north of The Oslo Opera House and Bus Station.
You’ll find many bus and underground stops around the station, so it’s easy to explore the city and beyond. Your nearest underground stations are Jernbanetorget and Bjørvika. You can also travel straight to Oslo Airport from Oslo Central station via a direct 20-minute train.
